Local Inventory Quick Start Guide

Setup in 3 Stages

This quick start guide provides a condensed overview of setting up ShoppingFeeder’s Local Inventory service. For detailed instructions, refer to the complete guides.


Stage 1: Subscribe to Local Inventory

Time required: 2 minutes

  1. Log in to ShoppingFeeder dashboard
  2. Navigate to Manage ServicesInventory Locations
  3. Click “Start FREE trial” button
  4. Choose your plan (Basic: $30/month with 15-day trial, or Premium: $0/month)

Result: Local Inventory service activated


Stage 2: Configure Your Locations

Time required: 5-10 minutes per location

Before you start:

Configuration steps:

  1. Stay in Inventory Locations section
  2. For each physical location:
    • Location Label: Enter descriptive name (e.g., “Cape Town Main Store”)
    • Google Store Code: Paste your Google My Business store code
    • Select Location Channel: Choose “Google Local Inventory Feed (ZA)”
  3. Copy the generated feed URL for each location
  4. Click SAVE

Result: Location-specific feeds generated with URLs ready for Google Merchant Center


Stage 3: Add Feeds to Google Merchant Center

Time required: 5 minutes per location

  1. Go to Google Merchant Center
  2. Navigate to SettingsData sources
  3. Click Supplemental sources tab
  4. Click Add local inventory
  5. Select “Enter a link to your file”
  6. Paste your ShoppingFeeder feed URL
  7. Verify settings:
    • Update schedule: Automatically updates every 24 hours at 12:00 AM
    • Authentication: No username and password provided
    • Language: English
    • Feed label: ZA
  8. Click Submit
  9. Repeat for each location

Result: Local inventory feeds active in Google Merchant Center


Verification Checklist

Within 24-48 hours, verify:

  • All feeds show “Active” status in Google Merchant Center
  • No critical errors in feed status
  • Products display local availability when searched on Google
  • Correct store locations appear for your products

Common Issues & Quick Fixes

No products in feed Check inventory is assigned to location in your platform

What Happens Automatically

  • Inventory sync: Every 24 hours from your platform to ShoppingFeeder
  • Feed updates: Every 24 hours at 12:00 AM SAST
  • Google refresh: Every 24 hours (fetches latest from ShoppingFeeder)
