Guide 2: Configuring Your Store Locations

Overview

After subscribing to Local Inventory, you need to configure each physical store location in ShoppingFeeder. This guide explains how to add and set up your locations so that ShoppingFeeder can generate the correct supplemental feeds for Google Merchant Center.

Prerequisites

  • ✅ Active Local Inventory subscription
  • ✅ Google My Business store codes for each location
  • ✅ Verified Google Business Profiles

What You’ll Configure

For each location, you’ll need to provide:

  1. Location Label – A friendly name for your reference
  2. Location ID – System-generated identifier
  3. Google Store Code – Your Google My Business store code
  4. Location Channel – Select “Google Local Inventory Feed (ZA)”

Before You Begin: Get Your Google Store Codes

Finding Your Google My Business Store Code

Your store code is required to connect each location to your Google Business Profile:

  1. Go to Google Business Profile Manager
  2. Select your business location
  3. The store code will be visible in your business profile
  4. Copy the store code for each location you want to set up

Store Code Format: Store codes are typically alphanumeric identifiers unique to each Google Business Profile.

Step-by-Step Location Configuration

Step 1: Access Inventory Locations

  1. Log in to your ShoppingFeeder dashboard
  2. Navigate to Manage ServicesInventory Locations
  3. You’ll see the “Inventory Locations” configuration page

Step 2: Configure Your First Location

You’ll see a location card for “Shop location” (or your default location):

Location Label

  1. Find the “Location Label” field
  2. Enter a descriptive name that helps you identify this location
    • Examples: “Downtown Store”, “Main Branch”, “Cape Town Location”
  3. This label is for your reference only and won’t appear to customers

Google Store Code

  1. Locate the “Google Store Code” field
  2. Enter the store code you copied from Google Business Profile Manager
  3. This code links your ShoppingFeeder location to your Google Business Profile

Select Location Channel

  1. Find the “Select Location Channel” dropdown
  2. Select “Google Local Inventory Feed (ZA)”
  3. This ensures the feed is formatted correctly for Google Merchant Center in South Africa

Step 3: Generate Your Feed URL

Once you’ve entered all the information:

  1. A feed URL will be automatically generated in the “The URL For This Feed” field
  2. This URL will look like: https://sfdr.co/cf/BI1BMfM...
  3. Click the copy icon next to the URL to copy it to your clipboard
  4. Save this URL – you’ll need it for Google Merchant Center setup

Step 4: Add Additional Locations (if needed)

If you have multiple physical locations:

  1. Look for the “Supplier Stock” or additional location card
  2. Repeat the configuration process for each location:
    • Add unique Location Label
    • Enter corresponding Google Store Code
    • Select “Google Local Inventory Feed (ZA)”
    • Copy the generated feed URL

Step 5: Save Your Configuration

  1. After configuring all locations, click the “SAVE” button at the bottom of the page
  2. Your locations are now configured in ShoppingFeeder

Understanding Your Location Setup

Location ID vs Store Code

  • Location ID: Auto-generated by ShoppingFeeder for internal tracking
  • Store Code: Your Google My Business identifier that links to your Google Business Profile

The Feed URL

Each location gets a unique feed URL:

  • This URL contains your location-specific inventory data
  • Google Merchant Center will fetch updates from this URL
  • The feed automatically updates every 24 hours at 12:00 AM SAST
  • No username or password is required (authentication set to “No username and password provided”)

Configuration Best Practices

Location Labels

Do: Use clear, descriptive names

  • “Cape Town – Main Store”
  • “Johannesburg – Mall Location”
  • “Warehouse Outlet – Durban”

Don’t: Use vague or confusing labels

  • “Location 1”
  • “Store A”

Multiple Locations

  • Configure all locations in one session to ensure consistency
  • Keep a record of which store code corresponds to which physical location
  • Test feeds for each location after setup

Store Codes

  • Double-check store codes for accuracy
  • A single incorrect digit will prevent proper syncing
  • Each store code should be unique to its Google Business Profile

Verification Checklist

Before moving to the next step, verify:

  • All physical locations are configured
  • Each location has a unique, descriptive label
  • Correct Google Store Codes are entered for each location
  • “Google Local Inventory Feed (ZA)” is selected for all locations
  • Feed URLs are copied and saved securely
  • Configuration is saved

Troubleshooting

Issue: Feed URL is not generating

  • Solution: Ensure all required fields are filled in (Label, Store Code, Channel)
  • Click out of the field or press Tab to trigger URL generation

Issue: Incorrect store code entered

  • Solution: Return to this page, update the store code, and save again. The feed URL will update automatically.

Issue: Can’t find my Google Store Code

  • Solution: Visit Google Business Profile Manager. If you don’t see a store code, ensure your business profile is verified and approved for Local Inventory Ads.

Issue: Multiple locations showing the same inventory

  • Solution: Check your platform’s location/inventory settings. Ensure inventory is properly assigned to different locations in Shopify or your custom integration.

What Happens Next?

After saving your location configuration:

  1. ShoppingFeeder begins pulling inventory data for each location
  2. Location-specific supplemental feeds are generated
  3. Feeds update automatically every 24 hours
  4. You’re ready to add these feeds to Google Merchant Center
